The Fulton MX991/U Flashlight was made famous as standard issue equipment to US Army soldiers during the Vietnam War.  Today, Fulton Industries designates this classic design as the N47 Right Angle Flashlight.  These flashlights are still manufactured to the same rigorous standards, ensuring durability and functionality in adverse conditions. 

We have sold a ton of these over the years, and customer response has been overwhelmingly positive.  These aren't like the made-in-China flashlights that have flooded the market in the last 10 years or so.  They aren't reproductions.  These are the actual flashlights that are still contracted to the US military by Fulton Industries.  They are a piece of battle-tested gear, and they are still made in the USA.

This fully waterproof 2 D-Cell right angle flashlight features a PR6 bulb. Fulton MX-991/U Right Angle Flashlight Frequently Asked Questions

I found an MX-991/U flashlight made by another manufacturer, is it legit?

The MX-991/U flashlight was made by several companies over its history, including Bright Star, GT Price, and USALite.  As of 2026, Fulton Industries is the only manufacturer contracted to the US government to produce the MX-991/U.  The MX-991/U lights we stock come from the same manufacturing line as these contracted lights. 

So if your light is an older light made by a different manufacturer, it is probably legitimate. If your light is older and is not stamped with a manufacturer name, it may still be a real MX-991/U.  

All new manufacture MX-911/U are manufactured by Fulton Industries under the part number N47.  So if your light is new but is not stamped with the Fulton name, it is an imported copy.  

Does the N47 come with any spare bulbs?

Non-LED models of the N47 include a spare PR6 bulb in the spare bulb holder located in the base of the flashlight.  N47-LED and other LED models do not include a spare LED bulb.  

Can the Fulton MX-991/U flashlight be upgraded with an LED bulb?

Yes, the Fulton PR-LED bulb is a popular upgrade for all Fulton N47 lights.  Add the Fulton PR-LED bulb upgrade for a brighter light, or the Fulton BAT-LED-CS conversion kit for brighter light and less battery weight.  

Does the N47 right angle flashlight include any color filters?

OD green models of the N47 light include red, blue, and white lenses, and a clear diffuser.  Black and tan models include red and blue lenses.  

I found an old MX-991/U flashlight and would like to buy parts, where can I find them?

The Fulton MIL-REPL replacement parts kit contains gaskets, lens filters, and a new bulb to bring those old flashlights back to life.
