Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42 Rifle Scope Ballistic Plex

Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42mm Riflescope

The Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42mm riflescope is the largest scope in the Droptine family and is designed for hunters who want additional magnification and long-range capability without moving into a larger, heavier optic. Item #200077 combines a versatile 4.5-14x magnification range, 42mm objective lens, Ballistic Plex reticle, and adjustable parallax in a rugged 1-inch tube. It is a practical hunting scope for hunters who expect to take shots across a broad range of distances.

At 4.5x, the scope provides a 22-foot field of view at 100 yards, giving hunters a useful sight picture for locating and tracking game. Increasing magnification to 14x narrows the field of view to 7.5 feet while providing substantially more detail for evaluating distant targets and making precise shots.

Ballistic Plex Reticle

The Burris Ballistic Plex reticle is a simple trajectory-compensating hunting reticle designed to provide useful aiming references without cluttering the sight picture. Its straightforward design makes it easy to use in the field while providing additional reference points for compensating for bullet drop at extended distances.

The Ballistic Plex reticle is located in the rear focal plane, so its apparent size remains constant as magnification changes. This provides a familiar sight picture throughout the 4.5-14x magnification range and keeps the reticle easy to see when hunting.

Adjustable Parallax for Longer-Range Shooting

One of the most important advantages of the Droptine 4.5-14x42mm over the other scopes in the Droptine family is its adjustable parallax. The objective parallax adjustment can be set from 50 yards to infinity, allowing the shooter to reduce parallax error as target distances increase.

Adjustable parallax becomes increasingly useful at higher magnification and longer distances. By setting the scope to the approximate target distance, the shooter can obtain a sharper sight picture and minimize apparent reticle movement caused by changes in eye position.

42mm Objective and Hi-Lume Multicoating

The 42mm objective lens provides a useful balance between light-gathering performance and overall scope size. Burris uses precision-ground lenses and index-matched Hi-Lume multicoating to improve light transmission, brightness, and glare reduction.

The scope's exit pupil ranges from 9mm at 4.5x to 3mm at 14x. The generous exit pupil at lower magnification makes the scope comfortable for general hunting, while the higher magnification range provides additional detail when evaluating distant game.

Rugged One-Piece Construction

The Droptine is built around a stress-free, one-piece outer tube designed to withstand the shock and vibration generated by heavy-recoiling calibers. Positive steel-on-steel adjustments are designed to provide repeatable performance, while the integrated eyepiece incorporates a no-slip grip for easy adjustment in the field.

The scope uses a 1-inch main tube and capped Hunter-style adjustment knobs. With a total of 40 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment and 1/4 MOA click values, the Droptine provides straightforward adjustment for hunting applications.

Built for Hunting in Changing Weather

The Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42mm is waterproof and nitrogen filled to help prevent internal fogging during cold or wet weather. The durable matte finish and rugged one-piece construction make it well suited to the conditions encountered during deer, elk, and other big-game hunts.

Why Choose the Droptine 4.5-14x42mm?

The Burris Droptine 4.5-14x42mm #200077 is a strong choice for hunters who want more magnification and adjustable parallax than a traditional 3-9x hunting scope provides. Its 4.5-14x power range, 42mm objective, Ballistic Plex reticle, and adjustable parallax make it particularly useful for open-country hunting and situations where longer shots are possible. At 18 ounces and 13 inches long, it provides this added capability without becoming an unnecessarily large or heavy hunting optic.
