Burris Droptine 3-9x40 Rimfire Rifle Scope Ballistic Plex

Burris Droptine 3-9x40mm Riflescope

The Burris Droptine 3-9x40mm riflescope is a compact, lightweight hunting scope designed around one of the most versatile magnification ranges in hunting optics. Item #200019 combines a 3-9x power range, 40mm objective lens, Ballistic Plex reticle, and rugged one-piece construction in a scope that measures just 12.2 inches long and weighs 13 ounces. It is an excellent choice for hunters who want a straightforward, dependable riflescope without unnecessary features or weight.

The 3-9x magnification range makes the Droptine well suited to a wide variety of hunting situations. At 3x, the scope provides a generous 33-foot field of view at 100 yards for locating and tracking game at shorter distances. Increasing magnification to 9x narrows the field of view to 13 feet while providing additional detail for more precise shots at longer ranges.

Ballistic Plex Reticle

The Droptine 3-9x40mm uses Burris's proven Ballistic Plex reticle, a simple trajectory-compensating reticle designed specifically for hunting. Its clean sight picture provides useful holdover references without cluttering the field of view, making it quick to understand and easy to use when a shot opportunity develops.

The Ballistic Plex reticle is positioned in the rear focal plane, so its apparent size remains constant as magnification changes. This gives the hunter a familiar aiming point throughout the scope's 3-9x magnification range.

40mm Objective for a Compact Hunting Scope

The 40mm objective lens provides a useful balance between light collection, optical performance, and compact size. Burris uses precision-ground lenses and high-grade optical glass to provide a bright, clear image, while index-matched Hi-Lume multicoating helps improve low-light performance and reduce glare.

The exit pupil ranges from 13mm at 3x to 5mm at 9x. The large exit pupil at low magnification makes the scope comfortable for general hunting, while the 5mm exit pupil at maximum power provides useful brightness when more magnification is needed.

50-Yard Parallax Setting

Unlike the 3-9x40mm Droptine model with a 100-yard parallax setting, item #200019 is factory set at 50 yards. This provides a useful configuration for hunters who may encounter closer-range shots and want a scope optimized around a shorter parallax distance.

The fixed parallax design keeps the scope simple and eliminates the need for a separate parallax adjustment while hunting. This makes the Droptine particularly straightforward for hunters who prefer a traditional hunting scope with minimal controls.

Compact and Lightweight Hunting Scope

At just 12.2 inches long and 13 ounces, the Droptine 3-9x40mm is designed to minimize the weight and bulk added to a hunting rifle. Its compact dimensions are particularly useful on lightweight hunting rifles where maintaining balance and maneuverability is important.

The integrated eyepiece has a no-slip grip for easy adjustment in the field, while the separate eyepiece and power ring allow flip-up lens covers to be used without interfering with the scope's controls.

Rugged One-Piece Construction

The Droptine uses a stress-free, one-piece outer tube designed to withstand the shock and vibration generated by heavy-recoiling calibers. Positive steel-on-steel adjustments provide repeatable performance, while capped Hunter-style turrets help protect the adjustments from accidental movement in the field.

The scope has 50 MOA of total elevation and 50 MOA of total windage adjustment, with 1/4 MOA click values. The 1-inch main tube is compatible with a wide range of standard hunting scope rings and mounts.

Waterproof and Nitrogen Filled

The Burris Droptine 3-9x40mm is waterproof and nitrogen filled to help prevent internal fogging when temperatures change or the scope is exposed to cold and wet weather. The rugged construction is designed for the demanding conditions encountered during deer hunting and other big-game pursuits.

Why Choose the Droptine 3-9x40mm?

The Burris Droptine 3-9x40mm #200019 is a strong choice for hunters who want a traditional, lightweight hunting scope that covers the majority of common hunting situations. Its 3-9x magnification range, 40mm objective, Ballistic Plex reticle, 50-yard parallax setting, and rugged construction make it well suited to deer rifles and other hunting rifles used from woods and timber to more open terrain.
